I've been practicing shibari for a couple of years and I'm looking to connect with a model in the LA area who's interested in rope work. I want to keep developing my skills with someone who appreciates both the technical and artistic side of rope bondage. Clear communication and mutual respect are essential to me. For those of you who've found good working relationships with models in Los Angeles, how did you go about it? What helped you establish trust and make sure everyone felt comfortable from the beginning? I'd appreciate any insights on what makes these collaborations work well.

Have you tried attending local BDSM munches or rope practice groups? LA has a pretty active scene and that's honestly the best way to meet people who are already into bondage. Way better than cold approaching online.

I'm a rope model in the area actually. The key is starting slow and doing a lot of talking before any rope even comes out. What's your experience level with suspension?

Second the munch suggestion. There's also some good rope practice sessions that happen around the city where people are specifically there to practice shibari. Much safer environment to meet potential partners.

What style of rope bondage do you focus on? Traditional Japanese shibari or more Western styles?

I lean more toward traditional shibari aesthetics but I'm open to different approaches. Really interested in the connection and communication aspects of rope work.

Portfolio is important too. Do you have photos of your rope work? Most experienced models will want to see what you can do before committing to a session.

Good point. I'm flexible on that depending on experience level and what we're both looking for. Definitely something to discuss early.

I'm pretty new to rope modeling but interested in learning. What should someone look for in a rope top to make sure they're safe and experienced?

References are huge. Ask for references from other models or riggers they've worked with. Also they should know proper safety protocols, have safety shears accessible, and be willing to go slow. Never work with someone who rushes you or makes you feel pressured.

And they should know nerve point safety and check in regularly during any bondage session. That's basic stuff but you'd be surprised how many people skip it.

Alex, how long are your typical rope sessions? Just curious about your practice style.

Usually 2-3 hours. I like to take time for warmup, discussion, the actual rope work, and aftercare. Rushing through bondage never feels right to me.

That's a good approach. Aftercare is so often overlooked but it's critical, especially in more intense rope scenes.

Just be careful vetting people. There are some sketchy folks who use rope bondage as a cover for predatory behavior. Trust your gut always.

There are regular hands-on rope safety workshops. Worth attending even if you think you know the material. Refreshers are important in BDSM.
