I'm putting together a photography series focused on rope bondage aesthetics and looking to hear from folks who've collaborated with experienced models in the Chicago area. Has anyone here worked with models who specialize in shibari or bondage photography? I'd love to learn about your process for finding the right fit, how you handled the initial discussions about boundaries and comfort levels, and what made those collaborations successful. Any advice on building that foundation of trust and clear communication before starting work together?

I've shot rope work with a few models in the area. Best advice is to be crystal clear about what you want from the start. Discuss exactly what ties you're planning, estimated suspension times if you're doing any aerial work, and definitely have model releases ready. How much shibari experience do you have as a rigger? Just asking because if you're new to rope bondage, you'll want models who are patient and can give feedback. Some models are really experienced and can help guide the session which is great for photography.
