Starting thread: Where do bondage models find gigs

I've been wondering how models in the bondage and shibari scene actually connect with photographers and rope artists for paid work. What resources or communities have people found most useful? I'm particularly interested in hearing about platforms where the work is legitimate and the environment is professional. If you've built a network in this space, what advice would you give someone just starting out? Any insights about vetting opportunities or finding reputable practitioners would be really helpful.

Most professional rope work comes through referrals in my experience. Go to local shibari workshops and munches, that's where you meet the serious practitioners. The bondage community is pretty tight-knit, so word of mouth matters more than any platform.

I started by attending rope jams in my city. Once riggers see you're serious and understand safety protocols, opportunities start coming your way. Building trust is huge in BDSM work. DM me if you want specifics about my area.

As a photographer who shoots bondage content, I find most of my models through recommendations from other people in the scene. It's all about reputation and references on both sides.

Thanks for the responses. Are there any specific types of events I should prioritize? I've heard about munches but not sure what to expect.

In BDSM terms, how do you negotiate boundaries?

Munches are basically casual meetups at coffee shops or restaurants where people in the BDSM community hang out and chat. They're super low-key and a great place to network. Look for ones specifically focused on rope bondage if you can find them.

Also consider taking classes as a model. Many shibari instructors need demonstration models for their workshops, and that's excellent exposure. You learn a lot about rope safety too, which makes you more marketable.

That's really helpful, I hadn't thought about the workshop angle.

On bondage: how did you start?

Portfolio is everything. Even if you start with TF shoots to build experience, document your work professionally. Bondage photographers want to see that you can handle rope sessions and stay composed. Safety awareness is also a must - know your limits and communicate them clearly.

I've done rope modeling for three years now. The scene values experience and professionalism. Never skip the negotiation phase before any BDSM session, even for shoots. Message me privately if you want to talk about red flags to watch for.

Good point about negotiation. What should be covered in those conversations?

About rope: what beginner mistakes do you see most?

Boundaries, hard limits, safe words, duration, rope materials, suspension vs floor work, photos/video usage rights, compensation. Everything gets discussed beforehand in professional bondage work. No exceptions.

Also get references from any rigger you work with. Ask to speak with other models they've worked with before. The shibari community takes consent and safety seriously, so legitimate practitioners won't hesitate to provide references.

And don't work with anyone who pressures you or makes you uncomfortable during the vetting process. Trust your instincts. The rope bondage scene has plenty of respectful professionals - you don't need to settle for sketch situations.
