Starting thread: New rope model searching for collab

I've been modeling for rope work for a few months and I'm looking to connect with experienced riggers for collaborative sessions. My focus right now is deepening my understanding of shibari and building up a portfolio that shows my progress. I've done basic ties and some suspension prep work, but I recognize I'm still early in this journey. I'm wondering how people here typically go about vetting potential partners before a session. What kinds of conversations do you have upfront? Are there particular warning signs I should be aware of, or positive indicators that someone will be a good fit? I'd also value input on how to clearly express limits and what I should realistically expect as someone still developing their skills in BDSM rope work.

Hey, good on you for asking about vetting first. Big thing is always meet in public first, coffee or whatever. Talk about your hard limits and their experience level with bondage. Ask for references from other models they've worked with. Red flags include anyone who rushes you, dismisses safety concerns, or won't discuss consent protocols. A good rigger will want to know YOUR boundaries just as much as you want to know their skills. For shibari specifically, ask about their training background and how they handle nerve monitoring during ties.

What area are you in? Some cities have rope practice groups where you can meet people in a safer community setting before doing private sessions. That's how I started connecting with riggers when I was new to rope modeling. Also agree with everything Jordan said about vetting. DM me if you want to chat more about the portfolio building side of things.
