Looking for paid bondage shoots

Starting thread: Looking for paid bondage shoots

I'm interested in getting into modeling for bondage photography and would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience in this area. What should someone new to this know before starting? How do you find photographers who are legitimate and professional? I want to make sure I understand what to look for in terms of safety precautions, proper agreements, and warning signs to avoid. If you've worked in bondage modeling, what advice would you give someone just starting out?

First rule with any shibari or bondage work is always meet in a public place first. Never go straight to a private shoot. Check their portfolio, ask for references from other models theyve worked with. A legit photographer will have no problem providing these. Also discuss limits and boundaries before anything starts.

I've done paid rope bondage modeling for about two years now. Mike is absolutely right about meeting first. I'd add that you should always have a safety call set up with a friend who knows exactly where you are. For BDSM shoots specifically, make sure there's a safe word or signal established before any tying begins. DM me if you want more specific advice.

Thanks both of you, this is really helpful. How do you typically find these opportunities? Are there specific communities or networks where photographers post calls for bondage models?

Most legitimate work comes through word of mouth in the rope community. Attend local shibari meetups or workshops if you can. Many photographers scout at these events. Also look for established studios that specialize in fetish content rather than random individuals.

Another thing about safety in bondage shoots - make sure the photographer knows proper rope safety and has shears or safety scissors on hand at all times. Check how long theyve been doing this type of work. You dont want someone experimenting on you.

What about payment? Is there a standard rate for this kind of modeling, or does it vary a lot?

On bondage: how did you start?

Payment varies wildly depending on experience, location, and what the shoot involves. Some starting models do TFP initially to build portfolio. Paid bondage shoots can range anywhere from hourly rates to day rates. Never work for free if they're selling the content though.

I'm curious about this too. How long do typical shibari photo sessions usually last? I imagine the rope work itself takes time.

For shibari specifically, count on at least 2-3 hours minimum. The tying process is slow and deliberate. More complex suspensions take even longer. Make sure you're comfortable being in rope for extended periods before committing to paid work.

Photographer here who does bondage and rope work. Everything said above is solid advice. I always do a consultation first, provide references, and have a detailed model release that specifies exactly what will be done and where images will be used. If a photographer rushes you or avoids paperwork, that's a red flag.

That's really good to know. What should be in a proper model release for this kind of work?

It should specify the type of bondage being done, whether there's nudity, how images will be used, compensation, and your right to revoke consent. It should also detail safety protocols. Happy to discuss more specifics if you message me privately.

Also make sure you understand the difference between editorial and commercial use. That affects both payment and where your images might end up. BDSM content has different considerations than vanilla modeling.

This thread is super informative. I've been thinking about trying bondage modeling too but wasn't sure where to start. Thanks everyone.

One more thing - trust your gut. If something feels off about a photographer or shoot, walk away. There are plenty of professional people doing rope and bondage photography who will respect your boundaries and safety.

Exactly. The legitimate BDSM and shibari community takes consent and safety very seriously. Anyone who doesn't is not worth your time or risk.
