I've been making custom bondage videos for a while now and wanted to open up a conversation about this kind of work. There's a lot to navigate-from discussing limits and expectations with clients upfront, to figuring out fair compensation, to making sure everything is filmed safely and consensually. I'm curious about others' approaches to things like screening requests, handling revisions, and balancing creative input with what the client actually wants. Would love to hear from anyone else doing similar work or thinking about getting into it.

This is really interesting. I do some custom shibari photo work but haven't ventured into video yet. How detailed do you get with the initial consultation? Do you have clients fill out a form about what rope ties they want to see, positions, that sort of thing?

Yeah I use a detailed intake form. It covers rope styles, ties, positioning, clothing preferences, and any specific BDSM elements they want included. Also very important to list hard limits for both parties. Makes everything clearer from the start.

Do you find most clients know what they want or do they need guidance? I imagine some people request things that aren't practical or safe in bondage.

Good question. Maybe half know exactly what they want. The other half have vague ideas and need education about what's realistic. I always push back on anything unsafe or that crosses my boundaries. That's non-negotiable in BDSM work.

What about payment timing? Do you collect everything upfront or split it? I've heard of creators getting burned on custom content.

About rope: what beginner mistakes do you see most?

Always at least 50% upfront, rest on delivery. Non-refundable deposit protects you if they ghost. This is custom bondage work, it takes time and skill. DM me if you want to discuss specifics.

How do you handle if they want specific rope types or colors? Do they provide materials or do you charge extra for that?

I have a basic rope collection included in the base price. If they want specific jute, hemp, silk or unusual colors for the shibari ties, there's an additional materials fee. Most are fine with my standard rope selection though.
