Starting thread: Searching for model in Chicago

I'm a rope artist based in Chicago looking to connect with models interested in shibari work. I've been practicing rope bondage for several years and am hoping to find someone who'd like to collaborate on some photography projects. Safety and clear communication are my top priorities in any session. I'm curious if anyone here has experience finding modeling partners in the Chicago BDSM community, or if there are local groups or munches where people typically connect for this kind of work. What's been your approach to building these collaborative relationships?

Feel free to share your experiences or thoughts below.

Chicago has a pretty active scene. I'd suggest checking out the local munches first - they're great for meeting people in a casual setting before doing any actual rope work. Most models I've worked with I met through community events rather than cold outreach. Building trust is key in bondage work.

I'm actually interested in modeling for shibari photography. I'm relatively new to the rope bondage scene but have done some basic ties. What kind of experience level are you looking for? Also, how do you typically structure these collaborative sessions in terms of time and boundaries?

Thanks for the interest! I work with all experience levels. For someone newer to rope, we'd start simple and build up gradually. Sessions are usually 2-3 hours with plenty of breaks. We'd discuss everything beforehand - limits, safe words, what ties we're planning. DM me if you want to talk more about specifics.

The Chicago BDSM community definitely has resources for this. When vetting potential models for rope work, make sure you do a meet and greet first without any tying involved. Discuss references, experience, and expectations. Safety should always come before getting the shot.

What style of shibari are you focusing on? More traditional Japanese rope bondage or contemporary fusion styles? Just curious about your approach.

I practice both traditional and contemporary styles. I'm comfortable with floor work and some suspension, though for suspension I always have safety support present. My aesthetic tends toward clean lines and geometric patterns in the rope work.

This is helpful info. I've been wanting to explore rope modeling but wasn't sure how to start. Is it common to do test shoots first before committing to bigger projects?

Yeah absolutely. Most riggers will do a trial session to see if there's good chemistry and communication. Bondage work requires a lot of trust on both sides. Never rush into complex ties with someone new.

If you're doing photography focused work, make sure your model is comfortable with how images will be used. Release forms are important in BDSM content creation. Also consider whether they want face shown or not.

Great point about releases and image rights. I always discuss that upfront and get everything in writing. Models have full approval over which images get used and where. Anyone else interested in discussing collaboration can message me privately.

On bondage: how did you start?
