Starting thread: Looking for bondage model in Houston

I've been working on my shibari skills for about two years now and I'm looking to connect with experienced rope models in the Houston area. I'm hoping to find collaborators who understand bondage work and value clear communication throughout sessions. Safety and mutual respect are non-negotiable for me. If anyone here is part of the local scene or knows how to connect with people who take this practice seriously, I'd be grateful for any advice or pointers you might have.

Thanks for any help

Houston has a pretty active BDSM community. Have you checked out any local munches? That's usually the best way to meet people who are into rope bondage and build trust before any actual sessions.

I've been to a couple munches but haven't really found the right connections yet. Looking to expand my search a bit.

About rope: what beginner mistakes do you see most?

Two years is solid experience. What style of shibari do you focus on? Floor work or suspension?

Mostly floor work right now, but I'm working toward suspension. Want to make sure I have the foundations really solid first.

Respect for taking it slow with suspension. Too many people rush into that. For finding models, you might want to specify what kind of rope sessions you're looking for - artistic, practice, photography, etc. That helps people know if they're a good fit.

Good point. I'm mainly looking for practice sessions and skill development, though I'd be open to artistic collaboration if there's mutual interest.

I'm fairly new to modeling for rope bondage but interested in working with someone who prioritizes safety. What's your approach to negotiation and boundaries?

I always do detailed negotiation before any session - discuss limits, safe words, physical considerations, any injuries or health concerns. Check in frequently during ties. Never assume anything. DM me if you want to talk more about it.

Are you willing to work with newer models or only looking for experienced ones? Some people starting out need patient riggers to learn with.

I'm definitely open to newer models as long as they've done some research and know what they're getting into with bondage. Communication matters more than experience level.

I've modeled for shibari in Austin but considering relocating to Houston. What's the scene like there? Is there a regular rope night or anything?

There are a few regular meetups for rope and BDSM practitioners. Can't post details here but they exist. Ask around at munches.

Yeah there are some regular events. The community is welcoming if you approach it respectfully.

Re shibari - what kind of meetups work best?

Just want to say it's refreshing to see someone emphasizing safety and communication in bondage work. Too many cowboys out there who think watching YouTube makes them experts.

Absolutely. Rope bondage isn't something to take lightly. People can get hurt.

Thanks for the detailed response. I'd like to learn more about your approach. Will send you a message.

Good luck with your search Sam. Finding the right rope partner is like dating - takes time but worth it when you find someone on the same wavelength about BDSM practices.

Been doing shibari for five years and this is solid advice all around. Clear boundaries make better bondage sessions for everyone involved.

How often are you looking to practice? Weekly, monthly?

Ideally once or twice a month to start, could increase frequency with the right partner. Rope work takes time and I want quality sessions not rushed ones.

+1 for taking your time with suspension bondage. That's how people stay safe in BDSM.
