Starting thread: Bondage model in Manchester

I'm looking to connect with folks in Manchester who work with bondage models. Whether you're a rigger, photographer, or model, I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences. How do you handle the practical side of things, especially around boundaries and consent discussions before sessions? What does your vetting process look like, and what helps you maintain a professional environment where everyone feels comfortable? I'm interested in understanding how people build trust and working relationships within the local BDSM scene.

Hey, I've been doing rope work in Manchester for about three years now. For me, vetting starts with a detailed conversation before anything hands-on. I always discuss hard limits, safe words, and what the model is comfortable with. Usually meet in a public place first just to chat through expectations. Building trust takes time - I never rush into complex shibari ties with someone new.

As a model who's worked with several riggers in the area, I really appreciate when people take consent seriously. Before any bondage session, I expect a full discussion about what we're doing, duration, and any photography involved. References from other models or riggers help a lot too. The Manchester BDSM community is pretty tight-knit which helps with safety.

Thanks both. Lucy, when you say references - do you mean like checking with people they've worked with before? That makes sense. Jake, how long do you typically spend on those initial conversations?

Usually at least 30-45 minutes minimum for the first chat. Sometimes longer if we're planning something intricate. For shibari especially, I need to know about any injuries, flexibility issues, circulation problems. Can't be too careful with rope work. Happy to discuss more if you want to message me privately.

Another Manchester rigger here. I keep detailed consent forms that we go through together before sessions. Covers everything from rope materials to aftercare expectations. For bondage photography work, model release forms are essential too. The local scene has some good workshops if you're looking to network.

I'm relatively new to modelling for rope bondage. What should I be asking riggers about their experience level? How do I know if someone's qualified to do suspension work safely?

Sarah, definitely ask how long they've been practicing, who they trained with, and request to see their previous work. For suspension bondage specifically, they should have done extensive training and worked up to it gradually. Never let anyone suspend you if they can't explain their safety protocols clearly. DM me if you want to chat more about red flags to watch for.

Good advice from Lucy. I'd add that any serious rigger should know proper rope care, understand nerve pathways, and have safety shears on hand during every session. BDSM work requires constant communication during ties too, not just before.

I photograph bondage sessions around Manchester and always insist on being in the room for the full tie and untie process. Models should never be left alone in rope. Also make sure you discuss image usage rights beforehand - where photos can be shared, whether face is shown, etc.

This is all really helpful, thank you everyone. The emphasis on communication and safety really comes through. Sounds like the Manchester scene takes this seriously which is reassuring.

The community here really is solid. I started learning shibari about two years ago and the experienced riggers have been incredibly generous with teaching proper technique. Safety culture is strong which makes it easier for models to feel comfortable working with people.

Thanks Lucy, that's really helpful. I'll definitely be more thorough with my questions now.

On bondage: how did you start?

One thing I'd emphasize for anyone new to rope bondage - start simple. Floor work and basic ties before anything elevated. Some people want to jump straight to fancy suspension shots but that's how injuries happen. Build experience gradually.

Looking for experienced bondage models in Manchester myself. Working on a portfolio project. Anyone interested can message me privately and we can discuss details, rates, and boundaries.

Emma, happy to chat. I always ask to see previous work and get details about the session scope before committing. What kind of rope work are you planning?

Does anyone know if there are regular rope jams or practice sessions in Manchester? I'm intermediate level with shibari and looking to connect with other practitioners in the BDSM community.

There are a few regular meetups but they're mostly private groups. Best way in is through personal recommendations. If you're serious about learning proper bondage technique, reach out to some of the established riggers. Most are happy to point newcomers in the right direction.

Marcus, feel free to DM me. I know a few practice groups that welcome new members who are committed to learning safely.
