What do rope models charge in London

Starting thread: What do rope models charge in London

I'm planning some shibari photography and practice sessions in London and want to make sure I'm compensating rope models fairly. I've never hired professional models for bondage work before, so I'm not familiar with typical rates in the area. What do experienced riggers usually pay? Are there common expectations around session duration, rest periods, or other practical details I should be aware of? I want to approach this respectfully and ensure everyone involved is treated properly. Any guidance from those who've worked with rope models in London would be appreciated.

It varies quite a bit depending on experience level. Professional rope models in London who do regular BDSM work typically charge more than someone just starting out. From what I've seen, experienced models might expect anywhere from a decent hourly rate for basic sessions to significantly more for suspension work or longer bookings. Always discuss rates upfront and be clear about what the session involves.

Also consider whether you're doing floor work or suspensions. Suspension bondage is more demanding physically so models usually charge more for that. And yes definitely factor in rest breaks especially for longer shibari sessions.

Thanks for the responses. So suspension work commands higher rates - that makes sense given the physical demands. For a 2-3 hour session mixing floor work and some basic suspensions, what would be reasonable to offer?

In BDSM terms, how do you negotiate boundaries?

For that kind of mixed session I'd say check what models are advertising but be prepared to negotiate. Experience matters a lot in rope bondage. Someone who really knows how to work with rope and communicate during ties is worth more. DM me if you want some specific contacts.

Don't forget to discuss things like photo usage rights too. Some rope models charge differently if you're planning to publish the shibari photos versus just using them for practice. That's a whole separate conversation from the session rate.

Good point about photo rights. This is primarily for practice and building my portfolio, but I'd like the option to share some images later with permission.

On bondage: how did you start?

I'm also looking into this. Is it normal to do a shorter trial session first before committing to longer bookage work? I'm still learning shibari basics and don't want to waste a model's time or my money.

Absolutely normal and actually recommended. Most professional rope models appreciate working with riggers who take safety seriously and want to build rapport first. A one hour introduction session is pretty standard in the BDSM community.

From my experience shooting bondage in London studios, models often have their rates clearly stated when you first contact them. Some work on an hourly basis, others prefer half-day or full-day bookings. Just be professional and upfront about what you need.

Re shibari - what kind of meetups work best?

One more thing - make sure whoever you work with has actual experience being tied. There's a difference between a fashion model who's curious about rope and someone who understands bondage and can communicate throughout the session. Safety first always.

Exactly right. Communication during rope work is essential. A good model will tell you immediately if something feels wrong. That experience is invaluable especially when you're learning shibari techniques.
