Starting thread: How to price bondage content

I've been creating bondage content for a while now and pricing it properly has been tougher than I expected. There are so many factors to consider: how intricate the rope work is, whether it's photography or video, session duration, and what people are actually willing to pay. I'd love to hear how others approach this. Do you factor in the time spent learning specific techniques? Does shibari command different rates than simpler tie work? How do you balance making your work affordable while also respecting the skill and effort that goes into it? Would appreciate hearing what's worked for you.

I definitely charge more for complex shibari versus basic rope bondage. The skill level difference is huge. A full suspension rig takes way more time, expertise, and safety knowledge than wrist ties. I usually price by the hour for custom work and factor in my years of training. Don't undervalue yourself just because others charge less.

This is such a good question. I've noticed video content sells for way more than photos in the BDSM space. People want to see the whole tying process and the reactions. I price mine based on length and complexity of the scene.

Consider your market too. Are you selling to collectors who appreciate technical shibari artistry, or to a broader audience looking for general bondage content? That changes everything about your pricing strategy. DM me if you want to discuss specifics about your niche.

Thanks for the input so far. The distinction between technical shibari and simpler rope work is something I've been thinking about. Do you find that buyers actually understand or care about that difference?

Most buyers don't know the technical differences honestly. But the ones who do are willing to pay premium prices for authentic shibari. I've found my niche with that crowd and can charge 3x more than basic bondage content.

What about pricing for educational content versus entertainment? I'm thinking about creating tutorials on rope bondage techniques but not sure how to value that compared to regular content.

Educational BDSM content is its own category. People will pay well for quality tutorials if you have credibility. I charge more for instructional videos than entertainment because they have longer-term value to the buyer. The rope community really values good teachers.

Don't forget to factor in your props and equipment costs. Quality rope isn't cheap, and if you're doing suspension bondage you need proper rigging points and safety gear. Those overhead costs should be in your pricing.

Good point about equipment. I've invested quite a bit in proper hemp and jute rope for shibari work. Haven't been accounting for that in my pricing structure.

Also consider if you're the rigger or the model in your bondage content. If you're both, that's double the work and should be priced accordingly. I see too many creators undervaluing their time.

For what it's worth, I typically charge 150-300 for photo sets depending on complexity of the rope work and number of images. Videos are usually 300-600 for 10-20 minutes of content. Custom requests with specific BDSM scenarios go higher. Message me privately if you want more detailed breakdown.

Do you all adjust pricing for different platforms? Some sites take huge cuts which affects what you can actually earn from bondage content.

Absolutely. Platform fees are brutal sometimes. I price higher on platforms with bigger cuts to maintain my actual take-home. Also factor in if the platform restricts certain types of rope bondage or BDSM activities.

This has been really helpful. I'm just starting to create content and wasn't sure where to begin with pricing.

Re shibari - what kind of meetups work best?

One more thing - don't be afraid to test different price points. The bondage community will tell you pretty quickly if something is overpriced by simply not buying it. Start somewhere reasonable and adjust based on demand.
