How to get repeat clients

Starting thread: How to get repeat clients

I've been working with shibari for about a year and while I'm getting sessions booked, most people don't come back for a second one. For those of you who have clients that return regularly, what do you think makes the difference? Is it mostly about technical skill with the rope, or does it come down to communication and trust? I'm also wondering how much the overall experience matters, like how you set up the space or handle aftercare. Would really appreciate hearing what's worked for you in building those ongoing connections.

Thanks for any insights.

Honestly it's the aftercare that seals the deal. You can be incredible with rope work but if you rush people out the door after an intense bondage session they won't return. I always keep blankets, water, and at least 20-30 minutes for them to come down properly. That's when the real connection happens.

Communication before and after is huge. I do a thorough check-in a day or two after every BDSM session to see how they're feeling physically and emotionally. Shows you care beyond just the booking.

That's a good point about the follow-up. Do you reach out by text or email usually?

Usually text if they're comfortable with it. Keeps it more personal. DM me if you want to discuss more specifics about what I include in those check-ins.

On bondage: how did you start?

The space matters way more than people think. Lighting, cleanliness, music if they want it. I've seen riggers with amazing shibari skills lose clients because their studio felt cold or clinical. Make it inviting.

This is really helpful, I'm looking for someone who does all of this properly. The last person I saw was great with rope but there was zero aftercare and I felt pretty abandoned after.

That's unfortunately too common. A good rigger knows that bondage doesn't end when the ropes come off. If you're still looking, message me privately and I can point you in the right direction.

Also be consistent with your technique. If someone books you for a specific shibari style or type of tie, they expect that same quality every time. Don't experiment with new stuff on repeat clients unless they explicitly ask for it.
